The City of Buena Park is seeking for a Driver/Scheduler to join the Buena Park Senior Activity Center team!
The Buena Park Senior Activity Center is one of the largest and busiest senior centers in the region. We take pride in our friendly atmosphere and great number of activities for individuals 50+. The Senior Center is looking for a Driver/Scheduler to oversee our non-emergency medical transportation and senior mobility programs. The Driver/Scheduler is responsible for planning routes of travel, coordinating and scheduling non-emergency medical transportation, and transporting passengers to and from different Community Services locations. Work is performed in accordance with established schedules and safety procedures. The ideal candidate should have ample experience in preparing reports, performing administrative and clerical work, coordinating and scheduling routes, overseeing subordinate transportation staff, and training drivers. The individual in this position must have a great personality, be kind, patient, understanding, courteous, and outgoing, loves working with senior citizens and can develop a relationship with them and their families. This position's work schedule is between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday but may require working some weekend or holiday work assignments.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and six months of experience and training in the operation of a bus weighing two or more tons is required. Experience with senior citizens is highly desirable.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class B California driver license with passenger endorsement with acceptable driving record, and evidence of insurance are required. Ability to complete First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Defibrillator Training is required within six months of assignment to this classification. Ability to maintain appropriate medical certification and endorsements required by the Department of Transportation and Department of Motor Vehicles for the operation of a public bus.
