About Us

The Amerige Heights Community Association was established as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization on January 14, 2002, aimed at fostering social welfare and enhancing community well-being. This designation allows it to engage in activities that promote civic and social improvements, key aspects of its mission in Fullerton, California. The history of Amerige Heights is deeply connected to the area's past, with Fullerton itself founded in 1887 by George and Edward Amerige.

The Amerige Heights community is uniquely situated on land formerly acquired by aviation and film mogul Howard Hughes, who selected several hundred acres in Fullerton's foothills for a defense research facility pivotal to U.S. efforts during the Cold War. In the late 1990s, as the threat of conflict receded, developers transformed this strategic site into a model residential area. Through a collaboration involving developer SunCal and famed urban planner Peter Calthorpe, Amerige Heights became an award-winning master-planned community known for its walkability, accessible parks, and neighborhood-centered design. The development was completed with extensive community feedback and was celebrated by urban planners for its innovative, community-oriented layout.

The neighborhood now features a wide range of housing options—single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums—as well as a mixed-use district with retail, office, and recreational spaces, including the nearby 82.5-acre Town Center.
