2019 Guest Speaker - Jeff Struecker: "Black Hawk Down" Survivor- Army Ranger 
Jeff Struecker was a decorated soldier. At age 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as Infantryman and served for more than 22 years before retiring with the rank of Major. Jeff spent his final ten years in the US Army serving as a chaplain in Airborne and Ranger units. In 2017, he was inducted into the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame.

Jeff spent most of his Army career serving in special operations units. His combat experience includes participation in the invasion of Panama, Operation Desert Storm, Black Hawk Down in Mogadishu, Somalia, and more than a dozen combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He holds many decorations and recognition for his military service including the Bronze Star Medal with ?V? Device for Valor.

​Jeff holds a Ph.D. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He also has several other earned and honorary degrees. He is currently serving as Lead Pastor at his church in Columbus, Georgia.

Jeff is an avid runner who has completed numerous marathons and ultra-marathons. In fact, he competed and won the US Army Best Ranger Competition in 1996. He is also an award winning author with 5 books in print. He and his wife Dawn have five children and two grandchildren and reside in Georgia.


Mayor of Fullerton: Mayor Jesus J. Silva was elected to his first four-year term in 2016. Prior to joining Council, Silva served as Commissioner of the Fullerton City Parks and Recreation Commission from 2012- 2016.  Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, Silva came to the United States when he was just six-years-old and in 1987, fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a U.S. Citizen.

​Mayor Jesus Silva was elected to a full four-year term in 2016. He was elected to a full four-year term representing District 3 in 2018. The term expires in 2022.
